We encourage you to begin the passport application process as soon as possible to avoid delays. Please allow a minimum of ten weeks between the submission of your applications and your receipt of passport. Visas are not required. Expediting of the passport is recommended.

Found on the southernmost region of the Caribbean, and the 3rd of Holland’s ABC islands, Curacao is a flourishing tropical island with a range of geographical features. First inhabited by the Amerindian Arawaks, the island of Curacao wasn’t introduced to European influence until 1499, when Spanish lieutenant Alonso de Ojeda discovered the island. The island’s eventual abandonment by the Spanish left it open for Dutch rule. Following in the footsteps of most the Caribbean islands, Curacao eventually became a slave-driven economy, which led to its now eclectic ethnic background. In the early 1900’s oil was discovered on the island, which led to an economic boom and extended cultural attraction. In recent years, the natural beauty and deep history of the island have been the foundation for increased tourism.
With Curacao’s far reaching background and multi-national influence, the culture of the island is truly a jubilee of the world’s cultures. Curacao is on Atlantic Standard Time, which is one hour later than U.S. Eastern Standard Time and four hours earlier than Greenwich Mean Time (GMT –4).
